BlackRock is pioneering institutional blockchain adoption with a new digital share class for its $150 billion Liquidity Treasury Trust Fund. The asset manager’s SEC filing reveals plans for "DLT Shares"—a blockchain-tracked offering distributed exclusively through BNY Mellon.

While not holding cryptocurrency, the initiative marks Wall Street’s most significant step toward tokenized traditional assets. The fund will use distributed ledger technology to mirror ownership records, potentially accelerating mainstream adoption of blockchain settlement infrastructure.

With a $3 million minimum investment requirement, the offering targets institutional players. The move follows BlackRock’s successful Bitcoin ETF launch, signaling growing convergence between traditional finance and blockchain technology.
